It is so hard to believe that we are about to turn the corner into spring! This school year has thrown many ups and downs at us all, but we’ve almost made it to the last home stretch!
Across the country right now, many teachers are transitioning to live teaching for the first time all school year. This brings a whole new level of overwhelm. I happen to believe that spring time is already an overwhelming time in the classroom. It feels like there’s a little bit of a race to the finish line with all of the standards and content you still need to cover, and all of the growth you still want to see in your students.
Today, I want to take one thing off of your plate during this season: reading group plans! If you’re looking to make your spring semester less stressful and more seamless, then these reading plans are for you!
Small Groups, Planned For You
In any of my guided reading sets, you can expect to find everything you need to lead a rigorous, intentional small group lesson. These guided reading passage sets include lesson plans, vocabulary and word work activities for students, passages with comprehension tasks, and running records forms so you can track student reading behavior.
Spring Reading Themes
For spring time, I am a big fan of bringing in passages that are themed around spring topics. I talked about this in the winter in the fall, but I believe that changing the theme around the tasks that you do is a great way to engage your students in their work. Especially in things like guided reading where the routine is similar all year long.
Spring guided reading topics include:
- animals seen in spring
- insects seen in spring
- spring weather
